Day 16: Copenhagen

The Ferry from Oslo made for a better night sleep. We arrived in Copenhagen at 9:30 in the morning and took a bus to the 'bed and breakfast' we booked. Bed and breakfast is a little misleading as we are just staying in a bedroom of house owned by a really interesting guy who makes child sized wooden furniture, there is no breakfast to speak of. That being said, it is a really nice apartment set in an older building and we now have a bit of private space to expand into, more so than any hostel.

We decided we would make our first day an 'explore the city' day so we walked into the old city centre, which is only a 15min walk. Walking through some of the pedestrian only promenades, we both agreed that Copenhagen has all the charm we pictured when imagining European cities. Jackie went so far as to tell me that I am now in competition for her affection.

After a coffee break, we wandered around looking at some of the public art and getting a feel for the city. Here are some of the photos of Copenhagen and it's art that we captured:

We stopped into a movie theatre and got tickets to see a late afternoon showing of Woody Allen's 'Midnight in Paris'. The movie was good, but it was the theatre that blew us away. It had the look and feel of a really classy theatre from the 20's. (Anyone who has seen 'Midnight in Paris' will appreciate the irony).

To sum up, our first impressions of Copenhagen were very good. We haven't made any specific plans for tomorrow, but there are a couple of parks, galleries, and castles we would like to visit at some point over the next 4 days. Till next time.
