Day 12: Flam, Norway

Day 12 was mainly comprised of a hike in the Flam Valley of Norway's Fjord region. We heeded the advice of the TI (Tourist Information) Office and followed a mountain road up the side of the fjord wall. We left around 11am (after a nice sleep in) and set out to Flam's old town center, about 45 minutes inland. Here is a photo that we took along the way.

The mountain road was extremely steep and there was really no "easy" section of the hike. We went from an elevation of 2m to an elevation of 650m in about 1.5 hours. It was tiring, but it allowed for some great pictures.

After the hike, we headed back into town to stop for our coffee break (Swedish fika), to which we are still devoted followers. I fear we may be addicted at this point, as I was starting to get a headache before the coffee break. I was also dehydrated....

We headed back to the hostel, made dinner, watched an episode of Fringe (Season 3 is pretty awesome so far), and got to bed early, as the next morning we had to be up to catch a boat cruise through the fjord. Stay tuned...
